...is not having someone here for the SOLE purpose of taking pictures and/or video. You ladies all have such *beautiful* pics and video. I told DH (and told him and told him) to take lots and lots of pics during labor, and to hand the camera over to the doula as Amelia was arriving so I'd have lots of pics of that too. But somehow, it didn't get done. I have a couple of pics of me in the pool (none before that) and a couple of me still in the pool holding brand new Amelia, and then no more until I was showered and in bed with baby.

IF we ever have a third...I'm having a photographer, darnit! (And how silly is it that I'm almost wanting a third a little more to have those awesome pics? )

Me too! We have some of me in labor and a few of Reid but none of DH and I together during labor. We do hope to have more children one day and I will definitely add that to the budget!

I agree! I wanted all the gory shots of the baby coming out and also talked about it before the birth. Then during the birth I was like, get over here NOW and put that camera down! I do have video of him being born, but because I was on all 4's it looks like he fell out of my butt and you can't actually SEE him coming out.

Thats so funny, I just had a feeling thats what this post was about. I am going to be giving birth at home any day now to my first child and that is one thing I am trying to get organized. Who is going to hold the video camera? I don't mind if the shots aren't very good, but to hear her first cry or sounds and to hear everyone's reaction I think will be priceless.

LOL! That's what mine would have looked like too. I was "with it" enough to at least position myself FACING everyone in the room when I got on all fours in the pool!

That's my regret too. I have almost no pictures from my first homebirth. And only a few more of my 2nd homebirth. Having a photographer would have been great.

I am having my sister there specifically to take pics and watch Amara. I hope she will be able to do both. I did not have a home birth with Amara, but I still wish I could of had more pics. The nurse took a few. And she did a crappy job.

Yeah, we didn't get any pictures of either of my kids' births (ds was hospital, dd was unassisted). With ds we just forgot to turn on the carmera until after he came out and the nurses were like "aren't you going to take some pictures?" LOL. So about 10 minutes after he was born my mom took pictures and my dad took video. With dd we didn't think about it until the whole birth was over. So sad. I wish I had pictures of both. Dh thought the idea was gross, but he PROMISED me that with our next birth he'll videotape whatever I want from whatever angle I want as long as I promise to NEVER show anyone but myself. LOL So thats fine with me. Hehe...and it'll just be (God willing of course) he and I, so no one will be in the way or distracting us.

I'm getting a cam and recording the entire thing. The ENTIRE thing, I don't care if it's 59 hours long. LOL! I don't want to miss it!

Ah! You scared me with your title I was thinking this would be a horror story I was almost scared to click!

I will have my digi cam fully charged and ready to go for mine It's practically glued to my hand anyway it would be impossible for me to forget about it. (Even if I'm not taking the pics.)
