Since i keep getting closer and closer to the 42 week mark i am curious if anyone here has gone past that and how did things turn out. I don't want to put either my baby or me in any danger by waiting too long. Baby is still very very active and actually feels more active each day recently... I am positive on my conception date so I know my weeks are accurate. I just want some advice, what would you do??

My DS was almost born at 42w...he was born at 41w 5d. Everything went/was perfectly fine with me, him and his birth. My midwife had me see the back up OB to have an NST done to make sure I/baby could go past 40w, saw him at 41w and everything was fine. MW had me do blue cohosh, castor oil, tons of walking, sex, she stripped my membrands and stretched me to 1.5cm, evening primrose oill and acunpuncture (which seems to be what sent me into labor 2 hours later) Good luck! I'm sure everything will be ok!

I was reading a post the other day, either here or else where, and it was amazing how many hb mamas seemed to deliver at 41 or 42 weeks. I think when your body is allowed to proceed naturally and undisturbed, some babies just need to cook longer. I bet a lot more women would go to their 42nd week if we weren't so induction happy in this country. GL with everything, and I'm sure if your baby is still kicking around, you are going to be fine.

We went forty-two weeks plus three. I went in for a biophysical profile at forty-one plus three and all was well. The birth was fantastic and went smoothly with no problems. There was a little meconium in the amniotic sac, but Lucius passed his APGAR with a perfect score and was pink and healthy from minute one. He weighed eight pounds, two ounces (not a giant baby in other words) and was twenty and a half inches. I was in prodromal labor for two days and active labor for twenty-nine hours. I only pushed for a little over five minutes and the baby came zooming out. I think it was a perfect birth and I wouldn't have it any other way now, even though I was impatient waiting when we went over the forty week mark.

I have a good friend who had both of her babies past 40 weeks. Her first was 42 weeks 2 days past the due date, baby was 9 pounds 12 ounces and was perfectly healthy.
Her second was born at 43 weeks and he was a whopping 11 pounds 6 ounces, but actually a better birth than his sister, only 5 hours of labor, healthy baby and mom.

My son Reid was born at 42w + 3d and he was very healthy. I had a sono in the morning and went into labor that night. I definitely agree that we don't hear about as many post dates babies because so many inductions happen so we never know when natural labor would have started.

My son was born at 41w5d. So, not quite 42+ weeks, but close. Everything went wonderfully. Good luck! I hope the labor starts up again.
