What does your midwife recommend as far as weight gain? It seems like the midwives I've used want to see a bigger gain than the medical docs typically suggest.

I'm a little bummed because according to the scale at the WIC clinic this morning, I've gained 13 pounds with this pregnancy so far... she said that is more than I should have gained this early. I'll see my mw in about a week and a half, so I'm curious to see what she thinks of my weight. Until then, I'm not sure if I should start limiting portions, tracking calories, or what. Actually, I think I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and stay away from the scale...

I've gained 6lbs this pregnancy and am 31weeks. My midwives did say that is on the low side, but I'm not trying to *not* gain weight, I'm just not for some reason. They said as long as baby seems to be measuring fine then they aren't concerned. I did ask at the initial interview with them if they had parameters for weight gain and they said pretty much anything goes as long as you don't have GD or are making really unhealthy choices.
