My doula came over yesterday for our last visit before the birth. She had never met DH before then. As we were talking she mentioned that in her first homebirth (her 4th child) she didn't really think she was that far in labor and as a result her husband ended up delivering the baby since they called the midwife too late. I think she was just trying to emphasize the importance of calling to put people on notice as soon as we think something is going on (our support team is anywhere from 30-45 minutes away) but all that did was freak him out. He's very squeamish and not 100% comfortable with the idea of home birth as it is, much less the thought of delivering the baby on his own. So now he spent the rest of the night going off about how irresponsible it is to put him in the position of maybe having to deliver his own child and how he can't handle it and he's just going to call 911 to pick me up if it looks like the midwife won't make it.

No real point to this I guess, just needed to vent. He was okay with things until she brought that up and I think the fact that the birth is close is really starting to get to him. He always turns into a huge jerk when he's scared or feeling out of control. I tried to tell him it's no different from if I had the baby in the car while he was driving us to the hospital but of course he doesn't see it that way (since he thinks at least then we'd be en route to the almighty hospital where everything is so much better and safer).

HUGS...my hubby freaked out also when our midwife at the birthing center with my fourth told me that....

We almost had to do this at the center anyway....LOL...the midwife got there a mere 7 minutes before she was born. LOL...

Anyway...HUGS...hubbies are really a huge source of stress aren't they!
Momma to Emma, Elzie, Gretchen, Olive, and Rogan

We aren't to give a baby milk, berries, or peanut butter. We are to introduce new foods one at a time. But it's OK to inject several viruses, bacteria, aluminum, formaldehyde, phenoxyethanol, animal serum, mercury, squalene and more into an 8 week old? I don't think so.
In order to be healthy it is an unfortunate fact that people must be allowed the opportunity to be ill. I trust my body and those of my children to work correctly against the relatively benign diseases they vax for, and do not trust the ingredients in the vaccinations.
Our choice to not vax isn't based in ignorance, poverty, conspiracy theory and rumor. It's research, common sense, fact and evidence based..something the medical community has largely forgot about.

I think that was a fear of my DH as well. To appease him I called my m/w super early each time so that we weren't alone for the birth. Goodluck!! Hubbies can certainly be a source of frustration at times.
