I was just talking to my mom on the phone and trying to explain why I want to have the baby at home. She seemed like she understood some of my reasons but didn't really "get it" altogether, kwim?

So finally I asked ... why do you NOT want me to have the baby at home?

She said "Honey, I would just be so worried if you weren't at the hospital!"

I said "Mom, you would be worried if I was at the hospital, too!"

She admitted that's true. She didn't really have any more questions, so we talked about other stuff, and she seemed happy enough when I hung up. She didn't even ask the things she normally asks, like whether I'm avoiding fish or taking vitamins. So apparently she's accepted that I'm taking care of things my way ... or at least she's got something to think about.

That was the PERFECT question to ask her! My MIL said the same thing - "I'll just be so worried about you having the baby at home." I had to point out that she'd worry no matter where I was too. Funny how they don't really have a comeback for that - it's the honest truth!
