Do you prefer to register for gifts and let people buy you what you really want?

Or do you prefer to not register and be surprised by what people give you?

You're still going to have several people not buy off the registry and have several surprises.

I mostly got blankets and clothes from people who did not buy off my registry. So, I had about 30 blankets. In the last 2 years, I'm sure there are at least 10 I've never used and 10 that I've only used once or twice. As far as the clothes, I gave at least 15 outfits with tags still on them to a friend who had her daughter 6 months after mine. People don't know if you're going to have a small or large baby and what size the baby is going to be in during each season. I was given cotton, tank dresses in the size my daughter was in during the dead of winter! I understand that people like to shop for "all those cute little outfits". But, they just aren't practical and they might not get used if the baby is given so many outfits and/or they're the wrong size for the season.

That being said, yes, I do like surprises - especially ones I'll be able to use. For Baby #2, I got a huge diaper cake (with a couple binkies, onesies, and a bottle in the center of it) from co-workers. That was awesome!
Thank-you GraysMama for my beautiful siggy!

I most defintaley prefer to register. Being I hate Pink or BLue I am being a brat and not finding out what it is so I am hoping I will get what is on my list instead of a lot of stuff I don't need.

Registered gists are way more convenient. But it does depend on ur friends and whether they can be trusted to get some great gifts. If not then its the registered gifts route

I prefer to register to hopefully get some of the items we need/want. But I wouldn't mind if they get me what they want to!
