Here is a popular list of baby items for registeries.....

Changing table
Rocking chair & ottoman

Baby bath tub
Wash clothes
Hooded towels
Baby wash/oil/powder/lotion

High chair
Baby spoons
Formula (if bottle feeding)
Bottle brush
Bottle drying rack
Bottle warmer
Insilated travel bottle cooler
Dishwasher caddy
Burp clothes
Breast pump (if breastfeeding)
Lanolin nipple cream
Breast pads
Breastmilk storage bags/containers/trays
Nursing covers

Extra carseat base (if your SO has a car)
Jumperoo/Doorway jumper
Boppy (extra slip cover)
Pack n' play
Play gym mat
Crib mobile

Diaper stacker
Diaper rash oitment
Diaper bag
Diaper pail

Clothes (I recomend requesting various sizes, not just newborn. Big babies might not even fit into newborn at birth).
Socks (half dozen to 1 dozen)
Onesies (long sleeve & short, 7 of each)
Footed sleepers (7)
Pants/shorts (5)
Winter bunting (if you're having a fall/winter baby)
Hats (at least 2, and at least 1 extra thick one if you're having a fall/winter baby).
A couple sweaters (fall/winter babies)
A couple hoodies
A light jacket (spring, summer, fall babies)
A couple outfit sets

You might want ''simple'' clothing, especially in the begining. I tend to favor footed sleepers as the bulk of what they wear in the beginning because they are easy to put on, take off, and do diaper changes with. Onesies are also really easy and simple. My son was a fall baby so I keep him in a footed sleeper with a onesie underneath and a pair of socks under so keep his feet extra warm.

Crib bedding set
Extra crib sheets (I recommend at least 4)
Water-proof mattress pads
Changing table pad
Changing table pad covers
Baby blankets
Swadding blankets
Sleeping sacks (They zip up)

1st aid kit
Baby laundry detergent
Baby moniter
Baby gates

Things NOT to get....

Any 2nd or 3rd party/aftermarket products for the carseat OR any products that don't come with your EXACT car seat model. Such as, but not limited to....

Neck rests
Carseat covers
Shoulder traps covers
Toys that interfere with the harness
Carseat buntings or BundleMe's that go under the harness or touch the harness.

All of these things are NOT crash test rated. If in doubt, DON't buy it. It can be a life or death difference.
