When you registered for your shower gifts did you put whatever you wanted no matter the cost or where you more cost effective and didnt put big gifts?

I put different stuff, i did put bigger stuff because i know some people go in together to get them but i put a little bit of everything and all kinds of price ranges so they could have a little leeway as to what to get me

When I was pregnant with Brinlee, we did register for big gifts. However, we did not expect anyone to purchase those big gifts. It was just more of a "bookmark" type of thing for us to remember what we had picked out.

At my sister in law's urging, I did & I was surprised to see that relatives & friends purchased or pulled together to get these gifts! I too didn't expect to get them, but it also serves as a reminder to yourself what else you need & where you can spend your giftcards & cash.

I put everything we need on the registry, including the big items. I also put choices for some items with different price ranges.

Mostly I put the big items on it for my mom. She is buying us the furniture and that way she knows exactly what we are looking at. Since we live on opposite sides of the country, she was gonna order them and have them shipped. But right now they are not available online. So she bought us a gift card with enough money on it for us to buy the crib and mattress. She will send another gift card for the other items after she gets past my brother's wedding in June.

And someone did buy us the swing and had it shipped to us. My mom was bummed it arrived before the shower but thats ok. Gives my hubby something to do this weekend while I am here with my mom and having the shower.

I started my registy and was torn as whether or not to put big items on the list. I probably will in the end when my fiance and I can go together to the store and add items that way. Of course, we did buy our crib second hand. So really there's not a whole lot of big stuff left to purchase (my parents are buying us a bassient or pack-n-play with the bassient insert).

As someone else said, even if you don't get the bigger items, it's a good way to know what you need to go get and where it's at to make use of the gift certs and cash.

we did. My shower isn't until june and my grandma already got the travel system for us and 2 of my aunts are going to get a swing or something for us. i think as long as you put stuff for all price ranges people won't think you are being greedy or anything.
