if your baby was sick would you take him/her visiting?
my 6 month old has his first cold. he's very cranky and won't sleep. we're supposed to go away this weekend to visit my boyfriend's mother and grandmother but i really dont feel like going.. my son and i are both exhausted. and i know if i was sick i wouldnt want to be passed around. i don't want to do that to my baby.
the only thing is, i'm pretty sure if i ask my boyfriend if we can stay home he'll get mad and think i'm using my baby's cold as an excuse to stay home because he knows i don't like visiting his family. it wouldn't surprise me if his family got upset too, they're not the most understanding people.
do you think that i'm being selfish or just being a good mother?

Your just being a good mother, I wouldnt take him out, my 5 month old son got his first cold a month ago and I went out with him and he ended up with RSV for almost 3 weeks he was so sick and miserable, do whats best for him, if they cant see that your being a good mother and watching out for your son then screw them, sorry, I dont like visiting my inlaws either thats why I dont anymore

I completely agree! It would be too hard on him and you to take him out. Try rescheduling with them while you tell them you can't go. That way they still have a date to look forward to and they can't complain that you're backing out because you're taking the initiative to go up another time. Hopefully that'll work? Good luck. Sounds like you're doing a fantastic job!
