All clear on u/s today - quiet ovaries, thin lining. We are good to go for starting stims next Friday - eeeek! Retrieval should be between 10/6-10/10, making me due, if it works, sometime in the week before the 4th of July. My meds arrived yesterday - so many needles! I will post a pic of it all later.

We are about to get hit by a storm here, first one in a loooong time (we've been in a drought), so I've gotta go let the dogs out before it hits. Hope everyone is having a great week

So freakin awesome. Can't wait to follow this!

The follistim pen was virtually painless for me, until I got to like day 16, but by then, it wasn't the pen that hurt, it was giving myself injections through bruises...since by then, I didn't have any free space left!

xx

Yeah, I'm glad the pen is first. It looks really easy - the needle is tiny!

We are on our way to St Louis right now and will be at both tonight's and tomorrow's Cardinals games. I am super excited. DH has been on several guys trips down there, but I haven't been back to St Louis (I lived there as a kid) in many years. I wish I could just do my fang shot now so I can stop worrying about it, but no, it must be this evening. We are going to do it in the hotel room before we head to the game. Send me good thoughts!

Well, tonight was my 4th Follistim shot, and I finally got it down - no pain But, we had to start Menopur, and that one did hurt, but nothing too terrible. I felt very tired, and like I was coming down with a cold this afternoon. I napped after work, which I never do. Not sure if it's the meds or if I am just getting sick. Google tells me the fatigue can definitely be caused by the meds. Living my life around these injections blows, so I really hope I only have to do the minimum. U/s on Wednesday should give us a better idea.

We had a great time in StL, despite the injections. Cards won both games, and we got to see them clinch the division on Friday. Weather was perfect, we ate some good food, and tried some great craft beers. It was a nice last trip before (hopefully) being pregnant.

I had my first monitoring appt today. U/S showed 46 follicles, with the biggest ones at 12. Tech said this was right where they would expect for my protocol and history. I went to have my blood drawn, and then we met with a nurse, who went over my pre-op instructions. At this point, it was sounding like we wouldn't need to go back until this weekend. By the time the doctor came in, my estradiol was back - 873. I don't really know how high that is, but the doctor expressed definite concern over OHSS. So, I am keeping stims the same for tonight, but adding the ganirelix (which should slow the estradiol rise, as well as prevent ovulation). I have another blood draw in the am, and they will likely reduce my stims based on those results.

If things are still looking like OHSS, and especially if I'm feeling really crappy, at retrieval time, we will have to cancel transfer. The HCG produced in pregnancy makes OHSS worse, so it's not safe to transfer if severe OHSS looks likely. The doctor does think that we would have just as good of a chance with a frozen transfer, as I am expected to have lots of good quality embryos.

So, for the immediate future, please cross your fingers for a not too much higher estradiol number tomorrow...

I forgot to update here yesterday - my E2 was 1068, which the doctor was happy with - not rising too fast. So that's good news. Meds stay the same for now. I have another u/s and blood test today. I'm hoping for another two days on stims, trigger Sunday, and retrieval Monday, but we will see. I'm not feeling great, but not too terrible either. Very tired, constant dull headache, bloated, occasional mild nausea. Hoping for lots of nice looking follies today, and a reasonable E2 level!

My egg retrieval is on Tuesday! Yesterday, I had 42 follies, the biggest several at 17. I took my last stims last night, last ganirelix this morning. Trigger is tonight. They are calling me "moderate risk" for OHSS, so we are going with the dual trigger. This is a dose of Lupron, as well as a much smaller than normal dose of HCG (1500 IU vs 10000 IU). HCG sets off the OHSS, but not using any can reduce the number of mature eggs retrieved. So hopefully, this is the right balance to get maximum mature eggs while avoiding OHSS.

So, 2 shots tonight. The Lupron uses the smallest needle yet, and will be a piece of cake. The HCG, however, will be our first IM shot Scott has done a practice one, and that didn't hurt. The nurse drew circles on my hips, so we know where to aim. I'm hopeful that it will be all good, but definitely nervous. Looking forward to my one day off from getting stabbed tomorrow!
