Okay... so if you have me on facebook, you may have seen my status... I have been cleaning the house, room by room, trying to figure out why Nicola and I can't kick this bug. I have been dealing with it for a month now, and she has been dealing with it most of her life..... Basically a sinus infection that wont go away... but I have been thinking it is more than that. So, today was our room. I got to the windows (which are unfortunately blocked by dressers) and noticed a bunch of black mold. I am VERY allergic to the stuff......... which is how I knew what it was right away. DH was in the room spraying bleach and scrubbing.... the wood is all rotten.... (old house with original windows) and the glass is covered in black mold, inside and out. I fear telling the landlord.... considering the way he reacted when the roof was leaking. We have nowhere else to go, so if this place is not livable.... I don't know what we will do. So, anyway, I looked in the girls room, and the same thing in there. It is so bad! How could I overlook this! How did I not notice it sooner!!! I feel like an awful mommy!

We have applied for Habitat for Humanity here, and are hopeful that we will be approved. We are the only family with a complete application in our town, but because DH is not Canadian, there is a chance we will be turned down.... but gosh I hope that they will overlook that, as we are working on getting his status taken care of. He only has 2 more years and then he can apply for status!

Oh no, that stuff is so nasty and such a health hazard. I don't know any history regarding the landlord, but you have to say something it is your health your dealing with. I hope something comes through for you and you can either get it out of there or get you out of there! *hugs* Good luck on the HFH, that would be fantastic if that came through.

Yikes, that stuff is fierce! You guys don't want to be anywhere near it. It seems like with something like that, that is an outright health hazard, your landlord would be obligated to bring someone in to remove it. Does it say anything about that in your lease? I hope you can get everything taken care of!

Thank you to the SSMC makers for my beautiful siggies!

we have a verbal lease. they don't do them written around here.... i am sure he will do something.... just a matter of if it is the right thing. He is a decent guy for the most part, but does not like to have to put any money into this house. he lives right next door, lol.

I know here (US) there's a tax incentive thing going for if you have to make repairs like that, but I don't if it works for a rental.
I hope the Habitat for Humanity goes through!
