Has your gradeschooler had a non-family sleepover yet?

How old are/were they?

Tonight, my oldest daughter, Kaylee, is having one of her friends sleep over. It's her first 'sleepover' ever! She'll be 10 in October.

Other than at a family member's house....we've never let the kids go away for a sleepover. Then again, not many of Kaylee's friends are having sleepovers just yet. I thought this would be a good way to get her ready for what I'm sure is to come in the year ahead. Plus...being at my house...I can somewhat control things.

Kids are growing up so much faster than when I was a kid! I was 11 when I got to go to my friends house for a sleepover. And truthfully, I was a nervous wreck!

Side note: the friend we are having over is one of my friend's daughters who doesn't go to school with Kaylee, they have dance classes together. Believe it or not, but my daughter is closer to her 'dance' friends who all go to a different school then she is with her regular school friends. Dance classes take up her 'playdate' time. Luckily, the girls she dances with will also go tot he same middle school in a few years.

Has your gradeschooler had a non-family sleepover yet? Absolutely. He's had a few of them.

How old are/were they? He was 9 when he got invited to his first one and 9 when he had his first one at our house.

No, they've never spent a night with anyone - not even family nor have we had anyone spend the night. Joe isn't really into the idea of of sleep overs, which is fine with me because I'm not either. I hated them as a kid and dreaded getting the invite lol.

munchkin has stayed the night at a friends about a year and half or so ago so she was 6 but I dont count it as a sleep over since A- they lived one street over from us and B- I consider her (the friend) mother like a sister...last night was her 1st sleep over out of the home not at an almost/full family. We did have a friend and her 2 girls stay with us the winter of 09 but that was because we had electricity and they didnt from an Ice Storm so IDK how much that counts lol

Thanks Julia for the great siggy! <3

Arianna has had lots of sleepovers. She started at around 9 I'd say. We started by having her best friend over here first. I was nervous to have her stay anywhere besides with family. Now she goes over to friends all the time.

Natalie still doesn't she's "tried" staying with Ari's friend one time since she plays with the little sister but she didn't make it through the night. But we've had the little one here.
