Jayden (my 6 yr old) has been complaining about his fingers hurting and not "working" as he says. It started a while ago and it was in the mornings at first, I thought he was sleeping funny and they were just numb. But it's progressed quickly, especially over the last 2 weeks. He's gotten to where he can't close or open his middle, ring and pinky finger on his right hand. He can force them to go but he says it hurts really bad. He says the pain is in his joints, mainly the knuckles. He can't write or draw with that hand anymore, which is not good with school starting soon because he is right handed! And he has no strength in his right hand, he couldn't even pick up a toy the other day. We went to the doctor a couple days ago and he's having us take him in for an xray and blood work Monday - they're checking for rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and some other conditions. Hopefully we'll get some answers because I don't even know what we're going to do when he starts school again if he can't use that hand. I guess he'll have to learn to use the left, but that's not going to be fun considering he's still really just learning how to write with his right hand!

Keep us updated, I hope it isn't anything serious and resolves itself quickly.

Thanks! The nurse called me last night, they got the x ray results fast and it looked good! She said they would probably have the blood work results the next day (today) so she will call me with those and then we will go from there!

Oh no I hope he gets better before school starts.

I am glad the xrays look good and I hope the blood work is fine or isn't anything serious.
