Do you and DH/SO live near your parents? What role do they play in your child's life? How often does your child see them?

DH's parent's have both passed away. My parents live fairly close, but they don't have a relationship with us.

we live next door to my n laws. When the kids were younger they saw them every day as the kids got off the bus at their house and they kept them til I got home from work. Now the kids get off the bus at home so they don't see them every day, but every couple/few days if we run over or Hailey wants to ride her horse or David mows for them.

My mom lives about 45 mins away and we had a falling out last year involving the kids so they do not see her very often at all. My dad lives in FL and we go to visit him once a year

My parents are deceased. My MIL lives about 10 minutes from me and we bring the boys to her. She rarely comes to our house to see them. My FIL lives in FL near Orlando, so the boys see him, once every 5 years or so.

We live close to my in-laws and they play a very active role in my children's lives.

My parents, the more distance between us, the better for everyone.

My parents and inlaws all live in the same town, and it's far away, so we only see them twice a year. (we live in VA, and they live in WA)

But, that's about to change once we move next week!

My parents live about 15 minutes drive away, we see them at least once a week. My FIL lives in the south of England, so we only see him about once or twice a year.

Mine are both still alive, but too far away to visit and too fragile to enjoy spending long periods of time with a kindergartener anyway. ds used to Skype with them, but I don't use that program any more so now it's mostly voice calls with Grandma and emails with Grandpa.

The other set aren't really in his life, but he has seen pictures and he knows basic facts, like what they do for a living and where they live.
