All throughout elementary I would wake my son up for school, Make him breakfast his first day, and wait for the bus with him. This year he's in Middle School, and I told myself I would try to back off and let him be more independent. So I gave him an alarm clock to get up and made him responsible for getting up and going out to the bus, he eats breakfast at school now, and we went to a special dinner his first day as opposed to breakfast. But I can't help worrying I'm giving him too much responsibility to early.

My son is 11, and I've been a single mom for most of his life. At what ages would you, or did you, let your preteens/teens be responsible for their Middle School mornings???

You sound like you are doing a great job!! I think you are right on track for giving your son more responsibility for his mornings at his age. He may need some grace as he gets used to it, but it sounds like you are doing awesome with allowing him the space he needs to grow into an independent and responsible person. Blessings!
