I think thats a great idea. M didnt have any medical needs that we had to learn but we did room in with him at the hospital the night before we brought him home and i think it really helped me.

The baby across from M in the second NICU had a seizure and stopped breathing during her room in... they have no idea why, and it was probably just a coincidence that it was on her room in night but they nurses have said she could have died if she had gone home that day instead of being in the hosp. She went home with monitors the next week and her mom had to room in again to learn it all first
