Do you ever get to the point as a scrapper where you don't use templates so much? I feel like I have to use a template, a sketch, or a scraplift for practically every one of my pages. I got a paper scrapbooking magazine with a bunch of awesome sketches and inspiration in it, so I've used that some, too. Am I a fake scrapper or is it just because I'm starting out? (Or does it even matter at all? lol) The page I did for the purple challenge I did rearrange the template a lot, so I feel like maybe I'm getting somewhere. I just don't know how to put the pictures on the page if I don't start with some kind of inspiration.

I am going the opposite way....i've been scrapping so long and have run out of mojo LOL! I think I have done *maybe* 10 LO's without a template in the last 4-6 months!

Thay are great to use but I started to rely on them more and more to the point that I couldn't start a page without one! I am forcing my self now to not use them.

it comes and goes. sometimes i can pump em out without any help and sometimes I all i do is templates and scraplift. You're not a fake scrapper because of it because even if you're using templates for pic arrangement, you put your own elements on there.

I drew from a lot of places for inspiration when I was a paper scrapper, and I figure that's what I am doing now when I use templates. I will sometimes change a template to the point that it doesn't look anything like it anymore, and then I don't know if I should give credit or not... I wouldn't want to NOT credit the designer, but I also don't want to lead others astray if they're thinking they can get a template that looks just like my page! They're just good building blocks. I've been using them more and more lately too, whereas I didn't at first. It helps me get pages done faster, and I'm trying to catch up so for now I'm going to use them.

I feel the same way you do. I think it is because we are so new at it. Somedays, I just feel like I need a template & other days I start completely from scratch. I think as we progress in our digital we will even start to create our own layouts! Don't get discouraged, your work is great!

template or not you are a real scrapper! When we do the template challenges I am always amazed at how different each layout looks and how each takes on the personality of the scrapper that did it - you will put your own spin on the template. When I started out my program wouldn't let me use templates and I just played around with things until I found something I liked...once I found here (which was several years later) I started scraplifting to learn new techniques. Inspiration, whether found in a magazine, template, scraplift, or elsewhere is wonderful and something every artist needs! Don't get discouraged, your pages look great!

Thanks ladies for responding! This makes me feel a lot better. I love using the templates and doing scraplifts because it's really helped me learn a lot of techniques I may not have tried before. I am trying to change up the templates more though. I'm glad to know that I'm still a "real" scrapper!
