I am very sorry for each of your losses. This was a difficult forum to visit. I was wondering about some sharp pains I've been having, and my DDC doesn't have much to offer. I wanted to ask about this. I'm 6w, 2d pregnant. I haven't had an US yet (scheduled for 2 weeks from yesterday). Today I woke up having a sharp reoccuring pain on my lower right side, down in the pelvic area.

- It comes and goes every 2-3 minutes and only lasts a couple seconds.
- It is not unbearable, but it is a sharp (not dull) pain.
- It's been going on now for 5 hours and isn't getting any better or worse.

For an ectopic pregnancy, does the pain come and go every few minutes like this, or is it more constant? Is the pain unbearable? I'm trying to find info online but it's easier to talk to a "real person" in this case.

Oh, and one other question. When I had my exam yesterday, she said my uterus was already slightly expanded -- Would my uterus be expanding if there was nothing in there? And would she have been able to feel a bulge in my tubes if it was there?

Thank you for your time, and I do appreciate you sharing your experiences, I know this is one of the worst feelings in the world.

I do not have personal experience with ectopic, and I remember also having trouble finding out exactly what it feels like. I'm sorry I can't help you with that. My best suggestion is to call your doctor and tell them you are having sharp pain and that you are concerned. And if you don't get an adequate response from your doctor (that happens more than it should...) call another one or go in to the ER if necessary. Blessings...!

I'm not sure if your uterus would be enlarged with an ectopic. I think I've heard sometimes of some things forming in the uterus while others are forming in the tubes (don't ask me how that can be, but it seems that I've read it).

With sharp pain like that down low all day, I would call the doc ASAP. If it is ectopic I think the only way to know for sure is an ultrasound and they will want to rule that out right away. My opinion is to not wait because IF it is ectopic, your tube could burst and you could be in very big trouble very quickly.

If it's not, thank God. But I think it should be ruled out.
