I am soooo happy to say this (and I am secretly hoping I am not jinxing anything by doing so lol) but Cecil is doing sooooo well. I cannot believe how different he looks. HE HAS CUTE PINK CHEEKS!!!! and he is gaining weight. He is also crawling faster and he is a chow hound now. he is up-to 5 oz bottles (he was only taking an ounce or two before) and when he eats solids he grunts if you don't give it to him as quick as he wants it. he also initiates a feeding. He will now cry if he is hungry and before it was always us saying that it is time to feed him.

I may not start breastfeeding up again. I need to talk to our ped, because we changed two major things with cecil. 1 was iron supplements and 2 was the nutramagin formula. He started doing a little better when we added the iron, but after giving him this formula, he really is blooming. I want to know if he thinks it is the iron kicking in or if maybe cecil wasn't getting the right nutrients from me, or if it really is a milk allergy. Whatever the answer, I am thrilled with how Cecil is doing!!!!!

I'm so happy to read this....I can remember feeling the same way when Ana stopped spitting, started sleeping well, etc. I'm so glad that what you are trying is working and I don't blame you at all for wanting to stick with the Nutramigen. We are struggling with that decision right now too. The diet isn't so bad, I'm just having trouble keeping supply up and now she is biting. Also, didn't you say you have more traveling to do? At least now you won't have to worry so much about how to store up milk for that. Yay Cecil!!

WTG Cecil! Sam, I'm so happy that he is doing so much better. Now we need pics of those rosy cheeks. I really am glad he's feeling better. As far as stopping bf'ing, do whatever you think is best. If he's doing so well on the new formula, it might be worth it to stick to that. I'm praying that he keeps striving!!

YAY!!!!!!!! Just the update I been waiting for. I'm so happy to hear that he is doing so well. I think it's hard to know if it's the formula or the Iron that it's making him better, it could be a mix of both. About BF I would normally say that if it's not a milk allergy keep BF, but if he is doing so well on that formula......talk to his ped and see what he says. Either way you done a great job BF him, and for so long. Let us know what the pedi says, I'm also curious to know if he knows if its the iron or the formula that is making him better.

Thanks for all of your support!! I just LOVE you guys!

I posted pics in a different thread....I would LOVE to see new pics of all your lo's too......hint hint LOL

I talked with Cecil's ped today...we are going to keep him on the formula for a bit longer...my doc said that they have a program where they can ask the manufacturer to send us one case of the formula for free - that is 12 cans at $25.00 so that is $300 worth of free formula!! YIPPEE!

I think the free formula program is called the helping hearts foundation or somthing like that. It's not for all formula types, just the hypoallergenic formula because it's sooo expensive and usually needed for a medical reason.
