Hi girls!

I am new to the board and wanted to say I have been reading your posts. You have a great support team here.

Basically, I am wondering if anybody out there has some advice as to where I could find some sites for jobs at home. I have been an executive and personal assistant for 12 years and lost my job due to my pregnancy, boss didn't like children. Anyways, my hubby has a martial arts business that is still fairly new and we have a new house and two car payments. Needless to say he is being stretched thin and our marriage is being severly tested.

Even with all of my skills, I can not find another secretary job due to the fact of my pregnancy and I am very frustrated! It is hard to make people understand that I am still the same person with the same skills if I wasn't preggo. Sorry, starting to vent.

Anyways, let me know if you guys have any sites that cater to someone who has excellent skills in the secretarial pool.

Thank you very much!

Hi April,
Welcome, and congratulations on your pregnancy!!

For what it's worth, isn't it just a little illegal to be fired because you're pregnant?? It shouldn't really matter whether or not your former boss likes kids; he doesn't have to have anything to do with yours. Is it worth it to talk to a lawyer about getting compensated for the loss of income? Can you document that pregnancy is the reason you were fired?

Anyway, back to your question. I've had tons of beginners luck with freelance writing. Why not try some of the freelance sites and give them a shot? You could do a far better job than I describing your skills, but type in "freelance typing" or whatever is appropriate and see what's out there.

try: http://www.journalismjobs.com

and some others.

Good luck!

Thank you Alice,

Yes you are right, it is illegal to fire for discrimination of pregnancy, but I came in late one day and that was all it took. Texas is an "at will" state and that is where they get you. I did contact a lawyer and after my boss received his letter, I was compensated for 3 months salary which didn't last long. I did keep my files full of all of the things he had done over the years, porn sent through email, etc. and that is what convinced him to give me something.

Thank you for the website, I never thought about freelance typing that is a good place to start!
