Once in a while you hear bad stories about daycares.. but generally, they are safe right?

I'd like to think that there are all of these laws and standards that they must follow.. and generally, they are safe.. but I am interested to hear y'alls experiences.

I'm the owner/director of a large center in Michigan and we have a ton of licensing rules/regulations that we must follow. I have a licensing manual that is 450 pages front and back and we follow every rule because we know the importance of safety for the children and the security for the families.

Don't get me wrong I have heard horror stories. About 2 years ago a parent came to our center from an in home day care and the lady got so frustrated with him she slammed him down on the floor and broke his leg. His mom took a few weeks off work then came to us crying because she needed day care so bad to work but was so afraid to leave him. Well 2 years later mom is extremely happy with us and he son cries on most days when it's time to go home.

There are a lot of great day cares out there.....you just have to spend time looking for them.

Good luck!
