Sally has her first cold/virus thing, before we even got to daycare. My poor baby! She keeps waking up. Any advice? We've got her propped up, and the humidifier running, and we gave her some tylenol cause she's got a bit of a fever, and dh was supposed to pick up some baby nasal saline drops but he couldn't find them at Walgreens. I guess we just have to wait it out.

Oh poor baby!! Sounds like you are doing everything right for her. She's too young for the otc cold meds. I wish I could give you more info but Nicholas hasn't had a cold yet (knock on wood) and I dont remember Brandon ever getting sick as a baby. I would say just watch to see that her symptoms dont get worse and keep doing what you already are. Oh yeah, lots of hugs and kisses helps a lot too.

I agree, sounds like you're doing all you can do. Just keep her hydrated. She may not feel like nursing, but she needs fluids. I'd send DH back to Walgreens and tell him to ask the pharmacist for the drops. They have several brands. Give her the drops, wait a minute or two, then suction with the aspirator before nursing. It will make it easier for her to breathe while she eats.

The only other thing I can offer is that when Jonah had a little congestion & it was effecting his sleeping, we used a cold air humidifier with eucalyptus oil. That really seemed to help & I love the smell anyway. The oil is a little pricey & makes an oily mess of the humidifier, but I think it's worth it. It should be available at any pharmacy.

(((Hugs))) for little Sally & what I am sure is an exhausted momma!
