It is very important that as a web designer you view your webpages in the most used browsers. The most used are Internet Explorer 6 (IE6), Internet Explorer 7 (IE7), and Firefox. There are other browsers like Safari, Opera, and Google Chrome. However, most computers are using at least one of the top three.

The reason this is important is because some of the styling that you use including cascading stylesheets (CSS), Javascript, and flash could look perfectly fine in IE6, but not appear correctly in Firefox and vise versa. Even the different versions of Internet Explorer shows codes differently and your site should be created for all types of visitors using different browsers and monitors.

One more note about using different browsers. You cannot install both Internet Explorer 6 and 7 on the same computer unless you have Multiple IE Installer (link for more information is below). I am not sure exactly how it is install/setup, but I have seen several of my co-workers use it and they highly recommend it. If you don't feel like being bothered with it, you might want to use Internet Explorer 7 to make an even estimate for viewing your webpages.
