Do your children pray?

Do you memorize scripture verses at all?

Do you have bible reading time together at all?

I'd love to hear alittle bit about how other families share their faith with their kids.

My daughter is just starting to be comfortable praying with her own words
and it's wonderful to hear her talk about her love for God. It's a real blessing.
My son likes when I pray with him at bedtime, but he wants me to say the words so he can say them after me.

Do you memorize scripture verses at all? I do, my children memorize verses from church so we all learn them. Some mean alot to me so i memorize them.

Do you have bible reading time together at all? no we don't read all together. We do have a devotion we do before we start school in the morning.

We pray at bedtime every night (and meals). I use to ask him: What are you thankful for? What are you sorry for? Who do you want to pray for? So our prayer would come from this information. Now it's become mostly repeated, occasionally adding new people to the prayer list and sometimes he'll mention something new he's thankful for. He won't actually pray but he wants me to pray.

We memorize scripture for homeschool. They will be able the quote the entire chapter of Exodus 20 by April. They have already memorized the 10 commandments. Our church is about to start memorizing bible verses on sunday nights (for kids).

As far as Bible reading.....we've read his whole preschool bible and then we also read the entire Jesus Story Book Bible. I had started reading him some proverbs each night along with whatever book he wanted but we've gotten away from it. Ive got a book called "Jesus Calling" that's daily devotions. We need to get back to that.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb...I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made...My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together...Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. Psalm 139: 13-16

We pray at bedtime and before we eat. At bedtime we thank the Lord for our day and then ask for blessings and pray for people and then ourselves. We add the things we want God to help us with and ask for forgiveness. Kayley prays all of the time by herself. Last week she was on an antibiotic for a double ear infection and each time I gave her meds to her she said a prayer by herself and hands folded, head bowed..."Dear God, please make the medicine not taste gross." LOL!

We haven't started memorizing scripture yet. I do my own bible school after she gets home from public school and after lunch. We read the bible and I'm trying to teach her the names of the books in the bible. We go over the beatitudes (not all at once...one at a time). Last year we did VBS and it was a lot of fun.

My daughter has two childrens bibles with all of the pictures and easy stories, she also has one real children's bible. We sing songs and do little crafts...there are ideas all over the internet! I would like to start doing more bible verses...maybe work on memorizing them in the summer.
Trisha--proud stay at home mommy and wife.
