I need some prayers for a girl in my church. Her name is Amy and she is 18. Yesterday morning she gave birth to a baby boy. She was undecided for weeks whether or not she would keep the baby or give it up for adoption. She decided to keep the baby...and everyone was hoping she wouldn't. She lives with her mother, who is on welfare (social assistance) and smokes 3 packs a day. Neither one of them know how or care to know how to install a car seat, or put up a crib, or anything like that. There really isn't any support for the baby whatsoever.
There is a family that lives about 2 hours from here, a pastor and his wife and their adopted child. They were looking to adopt another, and Amy was made aware of thier situation. We had hoped and prayed that she would decide this was the family for her baby.
I got a phone call from a friend last night, who asked me if I would have any boy clothes that Aiden doesn't fit anymore that I could give to Amy and her baby. I said sure, I can go through my stuff. My friend burst into tears and said I was the first person that she had talked to from the church who was actually nice and didn't say that I wasn't going to help because I didn't approve of the situation (unwed mother). She said that the pastor wanted to wait to have the shower until September when people would be back from vacation (makes sense) but then my friend told me that many people in the church aren't thrilled that there is going to be a shower at all, even though the church has a policy that there will be a shower for every baby, regardless of how long they have been at the church or what the circumstances are.
Sorry this is so long...anyways, I just ask that you pray for Amy and her baby boy Damian, that she would have wisdom. We are hoping and praying that she will have a rude awakening that motherhood isn't always fun and games and that she will decide to give her baby up for adoption after all. Thanks so much.

how sad. praying that God's will be done on this situation. shame on the church congregation for judging like that. not a very Christian like attitude

Thanks so much. I have been going to this church since January and I have liked everything about it - this is the only thing that has come up. And it isn't the entire church...just the older people who are set in their ways.
