Link above. You can help pay for her daughter's college by donating money on ebay... WDYT?

Ummm ok weird! That poor girl has to be embarassed. Also if it was that easy I think everyone would be doing that.

Tacky! It is not the responsibility of the general public to pay for some random child's education.

Are you freakin' kidding me??? That is ridiculous! If they know now that they can't afford her college they should be preparing her to apply for scholarships and grants when the time comes.

I think she wasted her time in posting that. I doubt many people would be interested in donating money to some random person for their child's education. Who's to say the money would really be used for that purpose? What if the kid decides not to go to college? Is going to track down all of the donors to give a refund?

I find that to be a bit tacky and whoring out your child.

Very strange ... I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a baby girl at all, just someone looking to find a way to bring in some extra money.

I think it was a GREAT idea! And just to let you all know.. I have 2 kids really close together.. and unless you all want me to have to <strike>get a job</strike> start working as a prostitute, Im going to need you to donate money to my <strike>shoe fund</strike> kids college fund. If you dont do it, YOU are going to be to blame for my <strike>poor shoe selection</strike> objectification of my body and the downfall of my children! So yeah, pm me for the details of how you can send your cash straight to me. I swear it will go STRAIGHT into my kids savings accts!

That is the oddest post. You can see the seller's other listings here. The same listing like 18 times... Odd.

I really don't think anyone would fall for it, honestly.

I would never do it, much less donate to it. But...I bet there will be people out there that donate something. I say tell the girl to get a job when she turns 16 and help pay for her own college education. That's what I did.

Not to mention that some people work "while" they're in college. From the listing, it looks like dad is just focusing on school. Thats not a bad thing but it seems that a part time job could come in handy for them too.....IF its a legitimate listing.

All I can say is that if it IS a scam, they sure could have come up with a better sob story.....that one just doesn't do it for me! I'm so sorry your husband is going to school so you can't pay for your daughter's education!

Her daughter isn't 15. I think she's 8 months old. She will be 15 by the time they can start saving for her to go to college...or at least thats what she says.

I'm usually a lurker here, but I just had to point this out...

Did anyone else notice the other auctions listed in her Auctiva window? Not the other ones for the college fund, but the ones for "Microsoft Office 2007 Pro Plus"? They've been (understandably) removed, but it appears that she was trying to sell Open Office - a completely FREE and fully downloadable office suite. Seriously, eBay should delete her account altogether. It's pretty clear that she's trying to scam bidders.

Not to mention the idiocy of this auction, itself.

I actually really hope that this is entirely a scam and that there is no little Lillian out there with parents who actually think this is a good idea.
