Yes, what was with that?

Well thats normally where they put people who they move onto a second search or where they put people with medical devices who can't go through the metal detector. Why a plastic box? Who knows.

Thanks Ryan and Alex's mommy for the siggy!

It looks really, really strange. I raised my eyebrows when they put her and her child in there.

It's probably bullet proof glass.

I've never been in a HUGE airport, so I have no idea. LOL.

This kind of over dramatization of events happens a lot in my line of work. It's very frustrating to have to defend yourself from these attacks. They tell stories that people said horrible things to them, when they didn't, to bolster their story. It's sickening and I feel sorry for the people who have been smeared as a result of this.

She has updated her blog with her retort about the video. She acknowledges that it was her in the video but that there is stuff missing and that the video shows her son playing near her while she is being scanned which she says is a discrepency.

i believe it was an anonymous commenter from the TSA blog who brought attention to the fact that no one was safeguarding or paying attention to my son and i being contained in a plastic box… and yes, that was a humiliating experience and i appreciate you mentioning that fact that was very easily overlooked.
I don't necessarily think she maliciously made up a story. I think something annoying happened to her and combined with her already anxious state of mind, she saw if quite differently. It doesn't help that she has an entitlement complex the size of a small principality, as evidenced by the blurb above.

Let's build a scenario right quick. Imagine someone is carrying something lethal on their person. Their purpose is indeed to do Something Bad once their plane is in the air. For whatever reason, they are certain that the device with which they will do Something Bad will not be detected. But it is. The detector goes off, they are taken aside.

Now, what exactly then stops this person from freaking out in the airport, or deciding they are going to be caught anyway so they might as well take out as many people as they can now? Nothing, really. So for the time it takes to get to them, they are put in the containment box. This serves two purposes.
1. It places some small physical barrier between assailants and victims.
2. It gives the TSA agents a tangible physical area to focus their attention on should anything bad start happening. It's simply a good idea to place anyone who may be a danger in a clearly defined zone.

This woman flips out right from the get go because she's in that box (for the safety of everyone) and no one's holding her hand and blowing her kisses and telling her it aww going to OKaaaayyy!!! She made a mistake, and that mistake forced a TSA agent to have to take extra time to search her and her child. She's not a bad person because she made a mistake, and I've made a mistake in the airport before. The difference between her and me is I took the consequences of my mistake like an adult and didn't go home and whine about how I'd been treated so badly, right off the top, because someone was doing their job.

(And note I'm not talking about the alleged removal of the child. That's obviously NOT their jobs. I'm talking about her *****ing that she was even subjected to the box and the searching in the first place. She seems to think that her child should have exempted her from being treated like anyone else.)

PPS. Although I will give her credit. Chimay is an excellent beer. We Belgians do beer best.

Many sex offenders don't have a criminal background, who's to say that this guy wasn't some pedophile who wanted to search the kid "out of sight" I would have been highly pissed and probably would have missed my flight to speak with someone/anyone who would listen. Further, their rules stated that parent/child will not be seperated, so they were clearly in the wrong.
Ditto. I probably would have been arrested, because I would have beat to hell anyone who tried to come between me walking out of that box, and finding my baby. Then I would have stayed, and called the media, and anyone else who would listen. No way that's ok. If they wanted to search the baby, they could have done so in his Mother's arms.

ETA: Nevermind just saw that this was a gross over exaggeration.

I take it you didn't read the rest of the thread before posting that. She pretty made it all up. There's even a link to the video from the airport. The baby was never taken from her. No one else even so much as picked him up. He was on her lap and then SHE strapped him in his stroller right next to her while she was searched.
