I thought of this because I have been looking online at some "babysfirstsite" type websites, and I'm seeing an alarming number of people posting pictures of their children naked...and not just babies, toddlers up to like 5 years old! I just don't understand why someone would do that, with all of the pedophiles who lurk on the internet, who is to say that someone wouldn't get a sick satisfaction out of looking at your child? I know it is not a nice thing to think about, but it is a sad reality, and I'm wondering what these parents are thinking

I haven't seen too much of this (but then, I have never really *looked* for it) but I think from what you are describing, it's weird. I don't think it's appropriate to put something like that of your child out there (without their consent, mind you) for just anyone to see. I do, however think the bare bottom family pictures are adorable. But those are private hard copy pictures shared with only a select number of close people. JMO.

I'm glad that you are aware of the negative possibilites like pedophilia because lots aren't. Parents are consenting on behalf of their kids so I guess that's the part I would think is questionable. Sure they just love to show off their kids but most of those websites have public or private features. I wonder why they wouldn't prefer to make them private? Babies (and people) get looked at with lustful energy no matter what and I wish that this didn't have to be an issue (YUCK!) Do you think we should make these more private (for those that aren't) by either requesting it from the company? Just find one that is?

Thats a good idea, I was actually thinking of writing an email to them and asking...I feel bad b/c I'm sure that was the last thing on their minds when they put pictures up of their baby taking a bath or something, but it just isn't right...I just remember when she was about 2, my little sister used to run around the neighborhood naked...we lived in a pretty secluded, safe neighborhood and my parents were hippies so they thought it was totally natural, but a man on our street ended up being arested for collecting child pornography, and my parents were horrified that they had let her do that...It's just a sad fact of life and I think these issued should be brought to peoples attention.

Oh my...5 years old?? I can see how cute little naked baby pics would be ok...as long as it wasn't like full out showing private parts like "See I'm a BOY...or Girl w/e...". But 5 years old?? Isn't that illegal?? O_o... I'd never do that.

On a site that I used to go to they had a cloth diapering forum and some perv was taking pictures of babies in their diapers and selling them to others.

It took me a long time to even post a head shot of my little one after that.

Why aren't people smart enough to realize that pedophiles are rampant on the net? Have they not been reading the news or seeing entire shows dedicated to this subject? I guess some people don't think nudity is a big deal, but it leaves a door wide open for someone with less than good intentions to take advantage. It's so sad but some pedophiles are just so sick they even get off on looking at babies--that is so nasty I don't know how it can even be possible, but it is and parents have to be smart.

I don't even like having clothed pictures or head-shots of my kids on the net either--anyone can take anyone else's picture and do anything with it once it's out there.

Perverts are the reason why I don't post my kids pictures. DH is a computer freak and would flip if he knew that I had put MY pics on here. We have a family website that is passsword protected and I change it every few weeks...JM however, has nothing like that to protect our kids If we get fake preg women in here, why can't there be perverts posing as women too? Now I'm not judging but I think that some people don't think of the consequences of sharing sooooo much personal info with complete strangers, people post links to unprotected family websites, loads of pic of their kids, birthdates, etc. Identity theft is too common and it's too easy.

Oh and BTW I totally judge people for acting like dumb ##### and posting naked pictures of their little ones. If they want to post naked pictures of themselves I could care less, but not of their babies!

I have naked pictures of Joshua in the bath, and what you guys are describing are the reason why I haven't put them on here or anywhere else for that matter!

I have posted a pic of Cohen in the bath, but he had a little face cloth over his genitals. Is this considered bad to any or all of you?

I am terrified lol. I dont post any private areas. Maybe the odd crack shot (butt) but thats it. for her first baby pictures, I posted her with a diaper one. I am so scared of pedophiles/molesters. you just never know who they are. You have probably been in contact with at least 1 child molester/pedophile in your life. I have been in contact with 2. Scares the hell out of me. You just never know.

tanya

Cant see genitals with clothes covering, thats okay in my books

I think pics of babies are completely awesome and non-offensive (bad.) I just would like to see websites have more privacy so we could feel a little better about posting them, ykwim?

I wish I could share my kids without the fear of who else might be looking at them. Personally, I won't post any, clothed or not It's sad.

Ita and I belong to two very private sites and still people are able to slip in. There are not many things much cuter than a baby booty, it's pretty sad we have to be so protective of something that is so innocent.

I dont think it's appropriate at all MAYBE if its password protected. I dont believe it's appropriate for pictures to be taken of a toddler naked above the age of 1 years old anyways really, why would someone take a naked picture of a 5 year old? That's just weird to me. If people are going to tho, it should be something that is password protected so that only certain people can view the page, and the owner will be aware of who the people are. That's just my opinion tho.

I agree a 5 year old is really strange. I certainly never had any naked photos of myself taken at that age and would be horrified with my parents for putting something like that on the internet! I dont see a big deal with taking naked photos of a baby between 0-2 yrs, but then again my son is not even 9 months and its easy for me to forget what a 2 year old even looks like, even with nieces and nephews, they grow so fast I cant remember. And even then, I think diaper or naked photos with genitals hidden is most respectful(but u know you gotta capture those newborn naked poses, those are rare keep-sakes.)

Oh yeah, I love the naked baby pictures...of course my mom kept a whole stash of em and loved to show them to my friends in High School just to humiliate me...but I think that you just have to be soooo careful about where you post them!
