Sometimes I think of most Latin American immigrants coming here as refugees...the USA has done a lot of horrible things in Central and South America (some of which they have tried to fix, which I respect, some of which they have not) and sometimes I just want to say that they practically deserve an easy road to citizenship because of it. (Heck, a lot of the problem is from the fact that the USA has tried and tried again to create their form of democracy in SA and CA- so, if they want so badly to create lots of little USAs why not just let the people come here!!! ).

On the topic of refugees by definition. If the person is found to be a refugee (there are guidlines) then they deserve all the rights and privleges afforded by that. The USA has not needed to utilize humane refugee laws in other nations as of yet, but someday we may need to. We need to act humanely if we wish to be treated humanely in the future. (of course, this isn;t the only reason- it's also the right thing to do! but, practicality is in there, too).

Ditto to all that. I really have nothing to add
