Just thought we could see how the way parents regard sexuality affects the child's decision. B)

My parents were very conservative about sex and birth control.. My step mom talked to me about women parts when I got my period but no sex talk.. One day, I was getting my BC with my DH (BF at the time) and my step mom seen me coming out of the only doctor's office in the small town. We were both so shocked.. (I think she knew) but we didn't talk about sex then either.

My mom was UBBER-CONSERVATIVE about it. She didn't talk about it. Didn't want me to know about it. I think maybe she would have been happy if I'd just been asexual-lol.

No really though, every time I asked about sex, she's say I was too young to know. Eventually, I got all the science encyclopedias that I could and looked up all the naked scientific pictures and tried to figure it out on my own . haha, and then eventually she told me that the man part goes in the female part. I still had no clue what she meant, because that was about as far in detail as she went.

So I guess my friends taught me the birds and the bees .

My parents would NOT under any circumstances have supplied me with birth control. And I didn't ask either, because I wanted to LIVE!

^ Same here!! I never in a million years would have asked for protection from my mom. She would have killed me . I can hear it now " You want WHAT? YOU KNOW THAT HAVING SEX OUTSIDE OF MARRIAGE IS WRONG. DON'T TALK TO ME UNTIL YOU WISEN UP!"

My mom encouraged me to wait but she was always very open with me regarding sex. She got me on birth control and gave me condoms when I decided to lose my virginity at 15 (which I discussed with her). If she had not been so open with me I believe I would have lost my virginity much earlier.

My mom had the "period" talk with me but never the sex talk. I just remember being terrified about getting pregnant. DH and I used the pill and condoms until we were married

I didn't select anything, because honestly I have no idea what my parents would have done. My mom was very open about sex and even got out a pen and paper and drew it out for me! Yuck! Both my parents encouraged me to wait and I did. It was never even a temptation for me, so the problem with birth control never even came up. I have no idea what my parents would have done if I had asked, though.

My parents kicked me out of the house when they found out that I was having sex with my boyfriend (now dh). They said they couldn't have me living in their home knowing that I was doing something so against their beliefs. They did ask me to stop and I told them "no." that I was in love with him and I wasn't going to stop. I never approached my parents about birth control, but I went to planned parenthood on my own and got on the pill.

ETA: They weren't so lucky with my sis tho, she had 2 kids with 2 different guys by the time she was 20. Then my mom finally wisened up and put her on the pill. Her kids are 6 & 3 now and my mom has raised them both.

Sure I would help them in the choice and in attaining BC. I would also be open to teaching them how to chart and use double barrier methods (his and hers) if they don't want to take hormonal (lot of heart/circulation trouble in our fam). My parents were the same way (and, I waited until engaged to have sex)
