Frannie just finished "Because of Winn Dixie" in the gifted class and "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" in class. For fun she is reading books about the Titanic.

EJ is absorbing all books about sharks.

My 4th grader just finished The Hunger Games, but it was for a school book report. It's rare that she'll sit down and read a book like that for pleasure. She's currently working her way through Make a Mummy, Shrink a Head, and Other Useful Skills for fun, which is much more her style. She prefers nonfiction, and if it's an interactive nonfiction book full of experiments and activities, all the better. If it isn't, she'll make it interactive, like when she was going through an anatomy book because she wanted to get better at drawing the human figure, and stopped to draw something from each page before continuing on.

My kindergartner happened to pick up a Choose Your Own Adventure book for younger kids called The Haunted House (she's always been obsessed with scary stories, so that was the appeal initially) while we were at Barnes and Noble this weekend, and she's hooked. She loves that she's in control of the story, and I'm going to have to find some more for her because she adored it so much.

Hey... have you seen this site? Books | Lit2Go ETC Sort by title, author, grade level, etc. They're all classics in the public domain, and you can either read them and/or listen to the audio versions!

Ben just finished Journey to the Center of the Earth. He hasn't chosen anything new yet.
