I just found the Just Mommies group and I am very excited to see all of the Special Education boards on it. I am a mommy of a 6 yr old daughter. She is currently diagnosed with expressive/receptive language disorder but we believe the real diagnosis will be a sensory processing disorder. She is currently in a self contained 1st grade classroom. Any advice and information you can give would be greatly appreciated.

My son is also in grade one and he is in an integrated classroom, however he is being removed from it on a regular basis for cooling off periods. He's in the progress of being diagnosed with autism and sensory processing disorder was something that we were looking into since he has some issues there. Does your daughter have a special education plan or something like that where it is tailored towards her? I know those can be really helpful. It sounds terrible, but I find the best thing that you can really do is to be constantly interacting with the teachers and principal of the school in order for your child to be able to get the attention that they need! Here is a website I found that may be helpful in how to get your child adjusted in a classroom: Problem Behavior In The Classroom Hope it helps!
