Hello, my name is Kristi & I have 1 daughter named Layla. I have been breastfeeding her for over a year and I am VERY ready to wean. I have enjoyed this experience so much but I am just ready to have my body back.
Here's the problem...

She REFUSES to take anything but the boob.
I only feed her at night right now, about 7pm I give it to her and I don't let once we wake up for the day. So she pretty much drinks nothing until 7pm...not because I don't offer anything, because I do! I have wasted so many cups/bottles/etc... of juice and milk it's a shame really. I constantly leave something out for her to drink, offer it with every meal, off it randomly.... but nope

Here is what I have tried; Every kind of nipple for a bottle you can imagine. You name it, I've tried it. It's really at the point where she sees a bottle & shakes her head NO. I have a wonderful collection of sippy cups which she loves to refuse also. Probably every kind of cup/sippy/bottle that they offer is right here in my kitchen. She will take sips out of these to wet her whistle but really does not drink for nutrition at all. I thought we had something going with those straw nuby's they have because she drank from that but not after that one occurance....now she refuses it too. She'll take 2 to 3 quick drinks from the time we awake until 7pm when I give her the boob.

I am terrified she is going to become dehydrated & I am also terrified I will never have my boobs back & will breastfeed forever.

The types of fluids I have offered are-
Juice(every kind...apple, pear, white grape, apple/carrot etc....)
Cows Milk
Vanilla Soy Milk

And i got nothin... she turns her nose and won't drink.

How do I get her off the boob without her dehydrating because she REFUSES to drink anything else. I am at a loss & I don't know what to do.

Please please please help.
Wife to a wonderful Man , mommy to a beautiful little girl & handsome little boy!

Hello, you're in my PR

I tried to wean Kirsty at 2 months, I tried every type of bottle out there - I live in the UK and even had the Adiri shipped from USA!!! She refused them all to the point of crying as soon as she saw a bottle. I offered a bottle one time every day for about 2 months then gave up.

I tried to wean again at 6months and again she refused all the bottles. I made my mind up that I was ready to wean and picked one bottle, ditched the rest and simply offered the one type of bottle each day. After a week of offering at breakfast time, she then weaned ovrnight. To begin with, she would only take a bottle from me and whilst she was sat in her highchair. Gradually, she accepted me holding her then accepted DH feeding her.

My advice would be pick 1 bottle and/or cup and stick with them. I later figured out I was confusing her by trying different bottles. I wasn't giving her enough time to get used to one.

Have you tried just a regular cup? No lid? I know she is young but you never know, she might find it more appealing!

I am going thru the same thing. My DD Ava takes a few sips of the Nuby. She does better with Water than milk. She was nursing so much it was unreal(she is 13 and a half months) and I cut her to 3 feedings last week and now 2, but not too much in between, sigh.I'm wondering if taking it away completely will work because she knows HOW to drink from it, is just refusing
Let me know how it goes for you!!!!
Thank you Jaidynsmum!!And thanks Matilda for our PR Banner!
