Is it possible for someone with epilepsy to stop having one type of seizure and start having another? My mom has/had epilepsy. She thinks she was cured by god because she hasn't had the type of seizure she had before in about 10 years. She would completely black out and run into things and even run into traffic. Now, though, she claims to hear god speaking to her and see demons. I read that people with mental disorders and epilepsy can often display symptoms that correlate with spiritual experiences, like speaking in tongues and hearing the voice of god. Is there a type of epilepsy that can cause these symptoms? Would it be possible for the brain to trick itself into switching from one type of epilepsy to another after converting to a religion that celebrates these symptoms, such as fundamentalist Christianity?

I'm really not sure. It sounds like it is possible. I hope you find your answer.
