Hey ladies, I realize it's been forever since I've been on here, I've had a ton on my plate lately...and my husband got his notice that he's being laid off in December We'll lose our health insurance then too...he's looking for a job, but no luck so far, and he has been searching relentlessly. If he can't get a job before then we'll have to go on an individual plan.

My little girl Grier is doing pretty well...she had a procedure done last Monday on her small intestine and she's scheduled for bowel reconstruction surgery on November 2. Besides the removal of her feeding tube, that is the last surgery in the near future (so long as that surgery turns out well)...though she'll have more in the years to come. At 19 months old she's already been through 7 so I'm looking forward to being done for a while.

Her dietary needs are our next big focus. She went from eating NO solids, but taking a bottle, before her colectomy, to accepting some solids and bottle shortly after surgery and only getting a portion through the feeding tube, to a few months ago being fed almost exclusively on the feeding tube, which hasn't changed. She'll drink a small amount of water or juice from a bottle, but other then that she is completely tube fed...she has developed a strong oral aversion. We are going to start meeting with a speech pathologist. I want to get started on that but I think I might wait until we are on our new insurance plan before we do. I know Ava sees one, and maybe some other kids here too...I'm just wondering what to expect there? What will she do with Grier? How long would it take to see some improvement?
