Anyone here have an AmTryke?? We are officially on the list, and I'm SOOOO excited! They let Carrie use one at PT today and she ROCKED it! They think she'll have one before we move (8 weeks).

For anyone who doesn't know what an AmTryke is...

It's a tricycle made for people with special needs (from young children to adults). They can modify these things so that almost everyone can use them (straps to help hold hands to the handles, a modified seat to help children who don't sit up well, I mean they can REALLY modify it to ANY ability!) They have a large handle on the back for the adult to push it when the child struggles, or to get them used to it. It works their upper and lower body. I love these things!!! For the most part these trykes are free as long as you live near an ambucs chapter (you should look into it if you haven't. The child's PT will fill out a form that describes the child's abilities, but they're really awesome! (a lot like a smart tryke for special children). They find people to sponsor anyone who can't afford it and usually give these trykes with only a promise that you'll give it to another child once yours has outgrown it. (We will be making a donation when we get ours)
