Monday Carrie had surgery on her arm. They removed her hemangioma.

I have really wanted this surgery for her for a long time now and am really glad it's done and gone. It went well. She vomited after waking up from anesthesia but they gave her 2 cups of straight apple juice and thats a lot of sugar for her (she drinks diluted juice at home). Other than that, no problems. My poor baby came home so drugged she didnt' know which way was up. Just after the surgery they had her on 1 dose of oxycotin, 2 doses of fentanyl, a dose of tylonol, and a dose of phenegran. She wasn't even aware she had arms she was so out of it.

Two things I didn't love. First is that they TOLD ME that I could go back with her to be sedated, and then they ended up not letting me. I was very mad about that but Carrie did great (one thing if I couldn't go back, but they said I could and then didn't let me).

The other is after the oral sedative (to calm her before the gas mask) she was sooooo tired. She was pitiful and helpless and I just wanted to snatch her up and run away with her. My heart broke a bit for her.

She is doing fantastic. She's had very little pain and although her poor hand is swollen 3 times it's normal size, it doesn't seem to be affecting her and she still uses it quite a lot.

(Here is a pic where you can see the hemangioma well)

I am so glad she is doing well!!! That stinks that they told you wrong. I don't think they realize how frustrating that sort of thing is...especially in that situation...

Thanks .:Shortcake:. for my GREAT siggy.

YAY for a successful surgery and I'm so happy to hear she's recovering so well!
Surgery is just never fun even when it's something you want. I bet you're relieved.
