sorry I have been AWAL for so long. Things were crazy as far as eye stuff goes.

here is the basic update.

Avery started to get more scar tissue in her left eye. We were going to attempt laser surgery to remove it. Around that time we started having issues with contacts. They were not fitting right, bothering her eyes, losing them every other day and at $150 a lens that is not so good!! We tried going to a different brand of lenses and those were even worse. then we finally got a good fit but they were beocming irritated. First by evening time her eyes would get red and they would burn, so we had to take them out early. then within a few weeks, she was getting basically an allergic reaction. Her yes would be blood shot and burn, watery, eye lids were swelling, face was becoming red. They said she was contact intolerant. Well having no lens in the eye she has to wear contacts. So we opted to do implants.

It is somewhat contraversial to do them at 2, but with her being contact intolerant we felt it best. Her opthomolgist referred us a different doctor because he had never placed them in a child so young. His youngest was 4 1/2. So lots of traveling. That doctor also said that normally it is best to not do implants yet but he also felt it was best for Avery since she couldn't wear contacts anymore.

She had her first surgery on nov. 30th. ( i think I posted about that then) everything went well but 2 days later they were seeing somethign in her eye which might have been detached retina. Long story short and lots of ultrasounds later. Everything is fine. i was cortex, which is remnant lens tissue from the first few surgeries. So all is well.

she had her second surgery (or 8th for her life) on Dec. 14th. that implant went well also.

now she is seeing better then she has ever seen!!! We are so happy!!! She is seeing things outside of the van now that were always out of her range. She can color without her head an inch from the paper!! We went from "I can't see mommmy!" to "Look i see flowers!" AMAZING!!!!!!!

Not sure what her vision is now. She goes next week for refraction to see what prescription glasses she will need but they will be "normal" not a +30!!!

we will probably lose vision services and mobility training but... i am OK with that!!

Made by Trish!!!! <3<3<3

Kaytee!! HI!!! I've missed you around here.

It's sooo wonderful to hear a good update on Avery. I've been praying for her. What a fun time it must be for both of you for her to be seeing new things for the first time.
