If your cycles are regular and relitivly short I wouldn't try vitex. Ive heard it can really mess up a regular cycle. I was having 50-70 day cycles and its brought my down to 28 days ish.
Co sleeping baby wearing mama to Puddles 3 years and Fiancee to Yetti. Pretty signature to come soon!

I've researched fertility supplements in my 4 years trying to conceive. I think like many supplements, it depends on what changes you are hoping to get from your cycle. Vitex is a good regulator, but it takes time when taking the caplet form (liquid is faster in effectiveness). The reason many women may experience "messed up cycles" is because Vitex works to balance out all the hormones that affect your cycle, particularly the estrogen and progesterone.

It can take up to 3 months of taking Vitex before you get results, but if you have issues with poor endometrial lining (like spotting after O/before AF) it can be powerful because studies have shown that often poor levels of estrogen/FSH in the follicular phase may be a contributing factor to many luteal phase defects.

One warning I would give, is if you have experienced anxiety/depression or other mood disorder, be cautious about taking Vitex. It can exacerbate depression symptoms, and I experienced this personally myself when I took it. Although I felt my cycles were improving, the depression during the TWW makes Vitex not a great choice for me.

Plus, there is concern with toxicity for the baby, so although it needs to be consistently in the system for 3 months to be effective, many advocate taking it only from AF to O, and stopping in the luteal phase. If you do have LPD problems, supplementing with a fish oil/omega 3 supplement and B6 can be a good pairing.

Like the previous poster stated, if you have fairly regular cycles, this may not be the best choice for you.

I wish you luck!
