Have our first RE appointment tomorrow afternoon!

What are some questions we should ask? What should we make sure she knows?

hi bgreen,

I'm new but I've lurked here and a few other forums. I bookmarked this link from Fertile Thoughts because it has a nice list of questions to ask your fertility doctor. Hmmm, I'm noticing that I can not post a link until I have 10 posts, but if you use the search bar on Fertile Thoughts, you should be able to find it. Here are some of the questions.

How many IUIs/other treatments will be required before your fertility specialist clears you for IVF?

Are there any financing options available at the clinic?

Will you see only your doctor or whoever is on rotation that day?

Who will do your Egg Retrieval and Embryo Transfer?

Does your clinic do ICSI for all IVF cycles or only those with Male Factor Infertility?

What would happen in the instance of you forgetting to refill a prescription for a medication needed that day to start a cycle? Some clinics can give you a sample or refer you to a pharmacy that will give you one free x, y, or z medication.

How much time will you need off from work (if any) for ER and ET?

Also, will you be able to talk with your doctor if you call with questions or worries? Or will you be stuck with a secretary or RN telling you that you have to wait til your next appointment?

Are tests (blood, ultrasounds, etc.) done at the clinic or an outside facility?

The most important thing: How familiar is your physician with your diagnosis and possible treatment plans?

Good luck at your appointment tomorrow. I know I felt really nervous just making the phone call to the RE! LOL
