So do any of you know the rules of what you can do when the base shuts down? They are talking about shutting the base down tomorrow due to the snow we got dumped with these past few days. I know it means DH doesn't have to go to work but we can't drive? *** I have a doc appointment off base tomorrow!!!!

So any info? Or know where I can find out?

The only thing that I know about base closing is during hurricanes. Where they evacuated all the people, physically locked all the gates and well that was it. No coming or going for anyone if you didn't leave. That doesn't seem like your case.

I have also been through lock down where only service members can come and go to work. Nobody on or all base.

It sounds like yours would be closed to all nonessential personel. That would mean the commisary, NEX ,McD's, MWR, clubs, offices and detachments that don't have to be there etc. would all be closed. And people encouraged not to get out unless nessesary. I would consider an OB apt nessesaryif you can't reschedual. If you can SAFELY get your car to the Dr. I would go ahead and go and come strait back.

If they close the base it will probably be on your local morning news or weather station. Also your ombudsman or Key Volunteer would also get the word to get it out.

You might try calling Pass and ID office since they deal with people getting on and off the base.

Snow Day I would love to have one of those about now.

the way it works here is when they shut down the base you can only leave for emergencies and you cannot get back on post unless you live on post.
