Adjusting Siggy Size/Quality to Meet Guidelines (PSE)

If you are using PSE to make your siggies, for your final step you need to save your siggy AND adjust the quality of the siggy so that the size of the siggy is within the guidelines for siggy size (150kb non-animated and 250kb animated). This is how you do that:

(once siggy is finished...)
Go to FIle>Save for Web
***this will take you to a screen that has two windows with your siggy, one is the original, the other is how the siggy looks with the current quality settings. On the side you will see a bar that looks similar to this:

Under the help button there is a section that has image type, and two sections for image quality. One of them is a pull down menu where you can select low, medium, or high, the other says "Quality" and has a number next to it.

Underneath the second preview area of your siggy you should see the following bar:

the number under JPEG is what the size of the siggy will be.

What I do is set my number next to the word "Quality" at 90 and then go up or down until the number under the word JPEG (in the bar at the bottom) is as close to 150kb as I can get it.

mom of: Zach (10), Ryan (8), Bella (5), Mason (2), and pollywog #5 due 12/04/14
