Just a little background, we live 12 hours from my future stepdaughter. Since we got together SO has only seen her when we take trips to her hometown to visit her. Her mom wouldn't let her come up here to stay with us, because she didn't think FSD could handle all the changes happening in her life and spending a week with me would just be too much, or something like that. We were fine with that at first and just made even more frequent trips back home so SO could spend time with her. It's been a year and a half though and we were beginning to think he would have to go back to court to get the parenting schedule adjusted.

Yesterday his ex called to tell him she'd talked to FSD and she really wanted to come up and spend some time with us. So they've worked out 10 days in the spring, a month in summer, and another 10 days in the fall. In addition to all of his visits down there. She really was just looking out for her daughter, which is what I had hoped but a small part of me was having doubts. Her first visit to our house will be when my daughter is about a month old, so it will give them time to bond as sisters, and FSD time to actually feel like part of our family.

I couldn't be happier right now. Oh, and FSD is coming to my baby shower next week! We are having a small shower in our hometown and her mom said she could come. I invited her mom too but I'm not sure if she is staying or not.

Thanks to Graysmama for my pretty siggy!

Wonderful! I didn't realize that she was 12 hours away. I can't imagine. My sd are 4 hours away & that's been really hard. I'm so glad you will get to see her more & she will bond with little Lucy. (btw did I tell you I LOVE that name )

That's wonderful! I'm so happy to see parents work things out. It doesn't always happen that way, but it's wonderful when it does!
