When Will & Clayton are with their mom, it sometimes happens that we get invited to birthday parties or we go out and do things. Sometimes I end up buying Daniel something. I used to feel bad because I didn't always buy W & C something, but today it hit me that I shouldn't. They are getting their special time with their mom, so why shouldn't Daniel? I don't make a point to treat him special on the weekends that they are gone, but I'm also no longer going to make a point to make sure I don't, kwim?

If W & C get bent out of shape because of it, they just need to get over it. I wouldn't treat Daniel if they were home and not treat them, but I don't see why I can't have my special time with my boys and not feel guilty.

You shouldn't feel guilty at all! We're taking a mini trip this summer without dsd. I know people thinks that's bad but we can't afford the extra person (we'd have to rent a mini van because we no longer have a vehicle large enough for 5 people, another hotel room or cot, not to mention extra food (girl eats more than I do) and trinkets). Dsd goes on 2-3 vacations a year with bio. My kids go on none. So I don't feel guilty & dh agrees.

I don't think you should feel guilty either. It's one of the realities of blended family life that not all children are home at the same time. It happens, and it's not a slight against anyone.

Thank you to Babydoll213 for my fabulous siggie!

We treat whoever is home at that particular moment. We are getting ready to go to a movie and Sean is in the hayfield so it is just Dani and Robert going. Next weekend it might be all three or a different combo. Who knows around our house.

Thank you JMC1988 for my siggy!

You shouldn't feel guilty at all. All our kids deserve special time with their parents.

I struggle with this constantly. I feel obligated to buy for DSD when I buy for my two. I can't seem to get past it.
