I'm wanting to get some state status information for those who have applied for child support from which state ,if court was involved, how long , got it or not. Then if we finally get it after waiting we add the update to here so this would be future references for those who are trying to get child support from this state to know easy, moderate, tough

Montana/Florida: I live in Montana and Brendan's Dad lives in Florida. Haven't even been able to get a paternity order to Brendan's Dad as the Sheriff is having trouble getting it to him as Florida wanted paternity test done to make sure he's the dad before they go after him. It has been almost a year since I applied.

I live in Ontario, Canada.

I did all the paperwork myself, had it served, etc. all on my own. I had to change the court date a couple of times because I was unable to serve him.

I finally was able to serve him by substituted service. He pretended he never received the paperwork. and boom, I won.

Now i'm dealing with the Family Responsibility Office and should receive some payments soon.

This all started back in August of 2011. It's now April 2012 and the only reason I had to wait SO long was because I had to change the Court date twice.

My ex took me to court in July 2010 for visitation so I got a lawyer and fired back with child support. I believe there were 2 status hearings that my ex was required to go to, my lawyer went in place of me. In IL (I think in all IL or could be just my county) parents are required to take parenting classes to better learn how to co-parent (like it actually helps). We also had to take 3 mediation classes to work out as many issues as possible. We had our court hearing early in Feb. 2011, received the court papers end of March. I wasn't able to get an appointment with my lawyer about the court papers and the next step until the end of April due to her being on vacation and being busy with other clients. After that meeting, my lawyer was supposed to write up a proposal and get that out to me within a week.
Well, due to personal issues (being sick in and out of the hospital and remodeling her home), I didn't get the proposal until August. So 4 months of waiting only because of my lawyer. I received my first child support check in the first week of October and it's been steady since (although the wrong amount and the most recent is so far a week late).
I had a pretty good lawyer (except for the 4 month long wait) so I got just about everything I asked for. I also think the judge was a bit sympathetic because my ex, his GF and his lawyer really showed their true colors that day in court. I was almost embarrassed for them!

My ex agreed to pay and did (for a few months) but after leaving the country there is no enforcement, period :/ the state will not make any effort to collect even though he visits the country frequently, and there are warnings of dire penalties (like losing driver license, etc) they told me they can't enforce it without a current in-country address, which he doesn't maintain.
