So yesterday was my first viist with the OB. I am only 5 weeks, but I made the appointment early due to my two previous miscarriages.

I likely spent 85% of yesterday, before the appointment, in tears or filled with worry and anxiety.

Since finding out I was pregnant a little more than one week ago, I stopped my antidepressant Effexor XR. That medicine was the only one, and believe me I've tried many, that lifted the heavy black clouds for me.

My doctor wants me to start taking the Effexor again, even though I am 5 weeks pregnant. She said she has patients on Paxil and Prozac, etc.

When I lose the two babies, I was on Wellbutrin and Abilify, but stopped the drugs as soon as I found out I was pregnant. I did ok, emotionally. This time around, however, I am way more emotional and unstable. I am very worried about the baby, naturally due to the past losses.

Anyone here stay on their meds while pregnant?

I'm sorry you're feeling like this.

I was on my meds for the beginning of my 1st & 2nd pregnancy for 6 weeks b/c I didn't know I was pregnant, so there was a risk in my meds & the exposure for the babies.

With my last pregnancy (I had 3), I was on Seroquel XR for the ENTIRE pregnancy, doc's orders & it was by the far the best thing for me & my health. My son's healthy & the risks weren't big on Seroquel. I'm glad that I stayed on that & found something to work for me & my baby.

(Drugs in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding : SafeFetus.com) great website to enter in medications & it grades them based on safety for your baby.

I took Prozac 40 mg every day throughout my last pregnancy. I'm still on it and my son is now 3 months old. He was and is perfectly fine and I'm glad I took it.

((HUGS)) to you.

I stayed on my antidepressant Wellbutrin throughout my pregnancy, and I was on Xanax at the beginning b/c I had to slowly wean off of it. My son was born (and still is) healthy

OH MY ....*****HUGS!!!! ****** Before getting preg with my dd i was on topomax, zyprexa, and prozac. I had to stop topomax....but stayed on zyprexa and prozac (a high dose of prozac)...I HAD A GREAT AND SUCCESSFUL PREGNANCY! During the preg i contacted something called a teratotogen institute...which examines medications during pregnancies..they said there have been no new evidence of side affects with the baby with these recent drugs...if there is evidence ..they are not a category C...which basiclally means "unknown"...I went to a specialist in the city and he said for people like me..and prob you too...the benefits of being on the meds were greater....kind of like the greater good. My father who is a sono tech, also said he has never seen birth deformities etc..from these meds!! Effexor is a category C right? If you are feeling lousy...then i say ask to go back on it...stress can be worse. In my opinion, you are on a diff medicine now then you were..and you could have lost the preg bc of something not related to your med.
im here to say..i was on powerful drugs and was fine......my SIL was on antiseizure medicine, had to be...and was fine....=0)
