I told her how I've been feeling and she said that since I was already on 40 mg of Prozac she really didn't think it would be a good idea to increase it. She switched me to Cymbalta 60 mg instead. Besides my depression/anxiety I also have a pinched nerve in my back that causes extreme pain down my leg and foot. She said the Cymbalta is actually indicated for depression/anxiety and pain so it could help me even more than the Prozac.

Here's to hoping it works. My only worry is that I took Effexor XR before and I LOVED it! It gave me so much energy but after about 3 months it also greatly increased my anxiety to the point that I was in tears all the time. I'm hoping the Cymbalta won't do that.

Don't get discouraged, but it may take up to 4 to 6 wks to feel the full effects! Although I find when I start a new medication, I start feeling a little better after like 2 weeks.

oh, and just a personal story/warning: I had been on Wellbutrin for about 5 years, and things happened with my doctor and insurance and all that, so I was off of it for about 3 months. Well, when I started taking it again, my depression actually worsened =( So.. if that happens, let your doctor know... but don't stop taking it (unless that is what she suggests). It will get better!!!
