I posted a couple of weeks back about considering going back to university next year.. well, I'm going to do it!

I have always wanted to work in a field where I'm helping people, and counselling has seemed like the obvious field, for quite some time. So I have decided that i'm going to go to uni & get my BA in Sociology, and then i'm going to do a post-grad counselling diploma. I would like to specialise and work specifically with young pregnant women, seeing as I've been there done that, and know that there wasn't nearly enough emotional/mental support when I was in my hour (or 50,000) of need...

I guess now I have to work out what other papers i'm going to do, and whether I'm going to go back part time, or full time. part time probably makes more sense, BUT if I go back part time, it's going to take me 6 years to get my BA, and then I've got the post-grad stuff on top of that, by which time I'll be... well at least 31 when I finish uni, before doing the post-grad year/s.

I *think* that I have 3 papers completed already, but I will have to check & make sure that they are okay to credit toward this degree (i'm sure they will be, seeing as they were arts subjects/papers). If that is all fine & dandy, then I'll only have to do 4 more papers to complete the first year/stage of the degree, in which case I COULD do part time next year... then full time the two years after.

... Now I just have to wait until about November (? i think) for the 2008 enrolment handbook to come out.

... November, by which time I will be the mother of a TODDLER.. not an infant....

Congrats on making a decision. I'm kinda biased, I am a counseling major and will have my BS in May in counseling. I then plan on going to get my masters after all of my kids are in school. I think you will really like it, I love what I have done so far.
