I have a 98 Dodge Durango and it doesn't have the hooks to connect the latches. DS is still RFing, but I don't know how safe he really is. Maybe that seat isn't installed right. If we were to be in an accident his seat would go back and hit his face into the back seat, you know what I mean? Is there anything I can about this?

There is no real safety difference between LATCH and a seat belt install... as long as they are done correctly. So don't feel like your vehicle isn't safe enough. It is. LATCH is just intended to make it easier to get a solid install... and sometimes it's still better to use the seat belts. When installing with a seat belt, you will probably need to use your vehicle manual to figure out what type of seat belts you have, and then use the car seat manual and use the correct installation method.

Basically, if the butt area of the seat moves more than 1 inch in any direction, it's too loose. If you can provide the car seat info and/or pictures, someone here may be able to give you some pointers on how to get a solid install.
