Hey, does anyone know of any programs that will help people like me get a good carseat? I know that the actual need for one is still a couple months down the road, but I like to think ahead. I was wanting to go ahead and get one so that if anything happened, we would have it and not have to worry about it. I have heard that some police deparments have a thing that will help with purchasing a carseat, but I don't know how true that is.

go to http://www.usa.safekids.org/ and look for your local Safe Kids Coalition, they will let you know of any local donation prgrams you can apply for. If you cannot locate one or there are none in your area you can contact the kyle David Miller Foundation, they usually only supply seats to children over 40lbs, but there site says to contact them if you cant get anyother help heres the form for them, they will try and help you out. the kyle david miller foundation only helps people out who are receiving government assistance.

just so you know evey seat is safe as long as it is bought new and used properly, all seats have to go thru the same crash testing to be sold. Yes there are some that are easier to install and use or have more features, thats why they are more money.

I want nothing but a new car seat for Shad. My mother in law thinks that it is going to be safe with a used car seat. I told her to do her homework and make sure that it has not been recalled.

If your MIL brings you a used car seat, do not use it.
